Food Fun
Braylon has finally taken a liking to big boy food. Bryan and I have taken on the task of making homemade baby food and it's really quite simple. We've made Apple Squash, Sweet Potato Squash, Sweet Apple Potato, and Banana Cado. We simply steam or bake, dice, and puree. We place the pureed mixture into regular ice cube trays and freeze. Once frozen, the cubes are stored in ziplock bags. Then, we pull out a few frozen cubes to thaw for the following days meals. He really seems to like our concoctions. The only thing he doesn't like...the fact that he can't quite feed himself yet; something he tries to do ALL the time as you can see from the picture. He's also getting better at using his signs to let us know when he wants to eat and wants more. Sometimes we wonder whether he thinks the sign for "more" is actually the sign for "puffs". Boy, he LOVES those puffs!!

Photo Shoot
We had a photo shoot done here at our house on Saturday and it went really well! Braylon is such a poser :) Copy and paste the link below into your browser to check out all the cute pics. There are only a few posted right now, but keep checking back as Lance will post more throughout the week. By the way, Lance is a toddler teacher at Braylon's school, so it worked out really well to have him do this for us. He was really great with Braylon and super easy to work with. Plus, we are so pleased with the results!! Hope you like 'em!

Criss Cross Applesauce
Braylon is getting around pretty well. He's got this scooting thing down and he does the cutest thing...he crosses his feet almost every time he pushes off the floor to move. It's hilarious! Check it out...

8 Months
Our little man is 8 months old. Unbelievable! As I reflect on the past 8 months, I think about how fast it's gone by. Too fast! I was reminded how important it is to take in every minute, every milestone, every snuggle, and every smile when I read a book given to us by Grandma Jean. The book is called "Let me Hold you Longer" by Karen Kingsbury. The book is a hearwarming reminder of the precious process of growing up and the joys of watching it happen.
Here is a short excerpt:
Long ago you came to me,
a miracle of firsts:
First smiles and teeth and baby steps,
a sunbeam on the burst.
But one day you will move away
and leave to me your past,
And I will be left thinking of
a lifetime of your lasts...
The last time that I held a bottle
to your baby lips.
The last time that I lifted you
and held you on my hip.
The last night when you woke up crying,
needing to be walked.
When last you crawled up with your blanket,
wanting to be rocked.
Precious, simple moments and
bright flashes from your past.
Would I have held you longer if
I'd known they were your last?

Baby March Madness
Braylon's school regularly takes photos of the kids and uses them to decorate their bulletin board and classroom. Last month they took Mardi Gras pics and this month is "March Madness". They dressed all the babies up in Jayhawk jerseys and headbands. They also made up cute "bios" of the kids complete with nicknames and mottos. Braylon's nickname is "B-ballin' Braylon" and because he's the only K-Stater in his class, his teacher chose the motto of "I eat Wildcats like you for breakfast". I thought it was pretty cute and all in good fun!
