I know what you're thinking..."This girl must really need a drink!" Actually, yes, but more importantly we have decided on a name for our son. His initials will be B.A.R. How appropriate, right? We will reveal his first name once he's born, but we'll let you in on the rest now. No, Uncle Brian, it isn't Brian Abbott Ramsay. Sorry to disappoint, but we've decided on a family name. He will be named after his great grandfather, Arthur Ganson, Bryan's granddad. His name will be B. Arthur Ramsay. His first name came to us not by sifting through the hundreds of baby name books out there, but by Daddy's search of sports rosters. My only concern with this method was, "does this guy have good stats? our son can't share a name with some marginal athlete!"
P.S. If by chance you are one of the few people that we've told, please don't spoil the fun!!

Mother's Day
I received many warm wishes for my first "mommy-to-be" Mother's Day. It's amazing to think that I will soon be a part of this elite club of women. I know so many wonderful mom's and I am honored to soon share this wonderful title with them all. Bryan and I have been blessed with two of the best mom's around. They have supported us with love and grace and we are thankful to have them in our lives, especially as we welcome our own child. Their love has helped shape us into the adults we are and the parents we are about to be. Thanks Mom's, we love you!! Bryan celebrated my soon to be motherhood as well with this beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Without You
I'm been reading books to the baby recently and I came across one that I especially like. It's called "Without You" by Sarah Weeks. The book opens with a little background on the emperor penguin's hatching process during the Antarctic winter. The story proceeds from the vantage point of this little unhatched penguin, protected by his father. Here are my favorite excerpts from this book:
"I feel a little funny inside.
My mamma's far away.
Nothin' but sea ice for miles around.
You close your eyes to the blinding sleet.
But here I am warm as toast,
Balancing on your feet.
Where would I be,
What would I do,
Who in the world would see me through...
Where would I be,
What would I do,
Without you?"

I just wanted to share this special book with all of you. I can only hope that my little one feels as safe, secure and loved as this little penguin does. I purchased this book from Scholastic, but have seen it on Amazon.com as well.

Six Years and Counting
Today marks our six year wedding anniversary! My, how time flies! We celebrated by having date night in KC Saturday night. We enjoyed a nice dinner at the Bone Fish Grill and then caught a movie. It doesn't sound like much, but considering that for the past 6 months I've been at home and in bed by 8:30pm, this was a great feat for us! Bryan was a champ and got me a gift certificate for a one hour massage. What a great idea!! I already have my massage scheduled :) This was likely in response to my constant complaints about back pain. I guess he was listening!
We have had an amazing 6 years and have much to be thankful for. This year has been one of the best we've shared but I know that the best is yet to come!

What a Surprise!
On Monday night, my KC Play Therapy classmates surprised me with a baby shower on the final night of our time together. It was totally unexpected and I was completely surprised. As I snuck into class twenty minutes late, I was met with a loud "surprise" and much laughter. I expressed my amazement and sincere apologies for being late. We played a few shower games and feasted on cupcakes and soda. I opened gifts and reveled in their thoughtfulness. The party had to end and our final class began. This baby has been through 6 months of play therapy class with me and we're glad it's finally over! We will graduate on Saturday! Here are a few things we received for the baby from the KC Play Therapy gang.
